Frequently Asked Questions
Can't find your answer? Send us a message.
Do your birds talk?
Many parrots learn to talk, but it's never guaranteed. African greys and budgies are generally the best talkers; cockatiels tend to whistle. Check our species guide for details.
How loud are parrots?
It depends on the species. Budgies and cockatiels are fairly quiet, while sun conures can be very loud. All parrots make some noise, especially in the morning and evening.
How long do parrots live?
Anywhere from 5–10 years for budgies to 40–60 years for African greys. A parrot is a long-term commitment — please plan for it.
What's the difference between weaned and unweaned?
Unweaned babies still need hand-feeding with formula. We only send birds home once they're fully weaned and eating on their own, but you can reserve an unweaned baby with a deposit.
Can I visit before buying?
Yes — visits are by appointment only. To protect the health of our babies, we ask visitors not to come straight from another bird store or aviary.
Do you ship birds?
Yes — we can ship via Delta Air Lines. Additional charges apply; contact us for a quote. Local pickup is also available by appointment in Milford, Ohio. See How to Buy for details.
Are your birds DNA sexed?
Many of our birds are DNA tested, and it's noted on each listing. For other birds, testing can be arranged on request.
What should I have ready before my bird comes home?
An appropriately sized cage, perches of varying widths, food and water dishes, plenty of toys, and the food your bird is used to. We'll send you a full checklist when you reserve.
Is my deposit refundable?
Deposits are non-refundable, but can be transferred to another bird if needed. See How to Buy for full details.
